Iverson hires agent

By PHIL JASNER

For the first time since March 1999, Allen Iverson has an agent.
A source familiar with the situation said the 76ers' star guard has asked
Leon Rose, an attorney based in Cherry Hill, to represent him.

Rose is the agent for the Sixers' Aaron McKie and recently became the agent
for former Camden High star Dajuan Wagner, who is entering the NBA draft
after one season at the University of Memphis.

Iverson has not had an agent since firing David Falk, who negotiated
Iverson's first two contracts with the Sixers and his initial agreement with
Reebok.

The addition of Rose to the mix in no way affects the roles of Larry
Woodward and Tom Shuttleworth, who have been Iverson's attorneys, and Gary
Moore, Iverson's personal manager.

Rose also represents Miami's Eddie Jones and Portland's Rick Brunson, both
former Temple stars, and Washington's Richard "Rip" Hamilton. Rose could not
be reached for comment last night.

Falk negotiated Iverson's original three-year deal with the Sixers in 1996
and a subsequent six-year, $70.9 million extension. That extension has three
seasons remaining. The original deal with Reebok was for 10 years and $50
million in cash and stock. Iverson since has signed a new "lifetime" deal
with the company.
