We are pleased to introduce Ross Switkes and Delia Dougherty as Shareholders at Sherman Silverstein. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to client success have made a lasting impact on our firm.
Delia focuses on estate planning, tax analysis, and the administration of estates and trusts, helping clients navigate complex legal and financial matters with confidence. Ross specializes in bankruptcy, restructuring, and commercial litigation, representing a diverse range of clients in both state and federal courts.
“Delia and Ross have demonstrated exceptional dedication, legal expertise, and a deep commitment to serving our clients.” said Daniel Barrison, co-managing shareholder. “Their leadership strengthens our firm, and we are excited to see them continue to make a lasting impact in their new roles as Shareholders.”
Delia has been an integral part of our team, bringing a practical approach to estate administration and assisting fiduciaries in navigating the complexities of opening and closing estates. Her background in income tax has significantly contributed to the success of our Estates and Trusts Group. Notably, she successfully obtained a full $250,000 refund of Inheritance Tax from the State of New Jersey based on a challenge of the decedent’s domicile.
Before joining Sherman Silverstein, Delia handled various litigation matters, developing strong negotiation and mediation skills essential in resolving familial disputes. She also served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Charles A. Little, J.S.C. (Retired), Law Division, Superior Court of New Jersey in Camden County.
Ross has represented a diverse range of clients, including trustees, debtors, creditors, committees, asset purchasers, and municipalities, in both federal and state courts. Notably, he has served as counsel to major constituents in several recent prominent chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, including representing the Official Committee of Tort Claimants in Rite Aid Corporation, et. al., the Official Committee of Talc Claimants II in LTL Management, LLC, Official Committee of Talc Claimants in Whittaker, Clark & Daniels, et. al., certain parishes, schools, and missions in the Diocese of Camden chapter 11 proceedings, and owner of the former headquarters of WeWork, Inc. in WeWork’s chapter 11 proceedings.
Beyond his practice, Ross is actively engaged in the legal community. He currently serves as the Chair of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey, and was appointed to the Chapter 11 Rules Committee by the Chief Judge of the same Court. Additionally, Ross holds the position of President-Elect and Co-Chair of the Bankruptcy, Budget, and Golf Committees for the Mercer County Bar Association.
We proudly honor their dedication to the firm and the legal profession, exemplified through their hard work, unwavering integrity, and commitment to upholding the mission of Sherman Silverstein.
