Divorce mediation is a process to resolve disputes between parties outside of the court system. Mediation as a form of alternative dispute resolution is a voluntary process based upon the parties' common interests. Mediation provides a fair, confidential and cost-effective means for resolving challenging issues in a manner that also can save the parties time and the strain of litigation. Contrasted to litigation which is about the past, mediation focuses on the future and moving forward.
Sherman Silverstein shareholder Matthew Podolnick serves as the Managing Mediator for the Atlantic & Cape May County Offices of the South Jersey Mediation Center. He is chair of the law firm's Divorce and Family Law Practice Group. Mr. Podolnick received special training in divorce and family mediation from the Rutgers School of Law. He has been in private practice for over 18 years. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Podolnick worked in corporate offices for Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan, rendering him particularly skilled at addressing the economic issues which are part and parcel to any divorce, including when one of the parties owns a business. As the mediator, Mr. Podolnick is impartial and focuses his skills in assisting the parties in identifying the issues in dispute, developing solutions and reaching an agreement.
Mr. Podolnick was also recognized by his peers in NJ Magazine as a Top Attorney for Divorce Mediation.
With mediation, the parties are in control-you and your partner are empowered to make the key decisions that impact your future. In addition to making your own decisions, the cost of mediation is significantly less-fiscally and physically-on you and your family.
Control the process. Speed up the timeline. Save money. Work toward a mutually acceptable agreement. For many, mediation amounts to a win-win resolution.
Separation, Divorce and Post-Divorce
Mediation is most commonly used for separation, divorce and post-divorce matters-for decisions involving custody, parenting, child support, living arrangements, alimony, education, and distribution of property.
You will meet with Mr. Podolnick in a neutral, confidential setting. Mr. Podolnick's skills and training are instrumental in identifying issues, gathering information and finding resolutions. He will also assist the parties in addressing the sensitive subject of separation and divorce with the children.
To explore your options, call or e-mail Mr. Podolnick today to make an appointment to see if mediation is the right route for you and your family.
